The Eras: Sparks Fly in Reds & Purples

Speak Now Era: 2010-2011

Taylor served a major pushback to her critics when she released her third studio album, Speak Now, solely written by herself. It amassed a million copies within its first week of release and the story of Speak Now's purple reign begun. This era we see her continuing to embrace her then signature curly hair. Speak Now's bold, sparkly, royal purple color defined her fashion moments all throughout this era. The Dear John singer wore gowns shaped like a pastry as a nod to her iconic lyrics.

Taylor treated every ensemble and every appearance in this era as a white-veil occasion. We call her a marketing genius because every time the tabloids talked about her looks, her music had to have been brought up. She found the perfect niche when she blended her fashion and music.

Red Era: 2012-2013, Red (Taylor's Version) Era: 2021-2021

Tirelessly working hard, Taylor released a banger pop-country album, Red, soon after the success of Speak Now. This era she entered the scene embracing her signature classic red lip and her iconic bangs. Her quintessential hair with bangs defined her fashion all throughout this era. Red was the reason why so many high-schoolers and teenagers back in 2012 hopped on this iconic hair trend. The most famous ensemble from Red is from the Red Tour and it is a sparkly red mariachi style jacket dress (pictured below).

Another outfit that had Swifties on a chokehold was a simple white lace top and a leather bottom (pictured above, centered). She rocked the look with her blonde bangs, red lips, and a red bejeweled guitar. Fast forward to 2021, Red (Taylor's Version) was released and rightfully so, Taylor revived her classic bangs with straighter hair. At a Seth Meyer's interview, she adored a mature full sleeve black cocktail dress with her signature red lips and bangs. Late 2013 and early 2014, Taylor came out of the woods and teased a different hair with her Red tour outfits. Stay tuned for next week as we explore 1989.
