The Eras: A Fearless Debut
A Fearless Debut
Debut Era: 2006-2007
Let's start at the beginning, 2006 when Taylor Swift first released her self-titled debut album. The country princess, Swift stepped into the scene in classic cowboy boots and bright printed sundresses adorned. Before red lipstick was her signature, Swift always sported ringlet curls in her long blonde hair, the epitome of country chic.
Swift herself was a trendsetter with the asymmetrical hem becoming popular due to how often she was seen in it. In concerts and in her street wear Swift wore many an asymmetrical dress paired with cowboy boots as her shoe of choice. Though she isn’t a princess, and this isn’t a fairy tale, Swift is partial to the princess-eque gown.
Fearless Era: 2008-2010
Going into her second album, Fearless, Swift was obsessed with sparkles and girly silhouettes -she loves to be bejeweled. The shining star enjoyed sequin and rhinestone embellishments during this era, strutting the red carpets in dazzling gowns. The most iconic dress of this era would be the 2009 MTV awards where she adorned a sparkly floor-length gown.
Her casual styling in this era still had her country flare as she leaned into a more boho look, with headbands and short white dresses beings most notable, though debut and fearless are similar in style. When it comes to later eras Swift's style changes more drastically to reflect how that album resonates with her. Next week we’ll be enchanted by whatever the star wears next.
